Winter Park Chamber of Commerce

Winter Park Chamber of Commerce required a custom location map for visitors/tourists to the community to help increase support for the members of the chamber.

The map had to come with clear information, demonstrating approx 500+ members whilst conveying the general feel of Winter Park, an historic but growing city with lots of culture.

When visitors have access to an intuitive map with clear directions on where to visit and what to see in the area, it encourages them to explore further and provides a better customer experience, driving repeat visitation. Therefore, the map not only had to show the vast variety of shops/businesses to them but also to show the best spots to Instagram!

Custom location maps can help to increase support for local businesses, as well as provide a vital source of income for the local area. With clear directions and information about attractions, visitors explore beyond the obvious sites and make more use of local community services.

Interactive Map

Interactive Property Map

This interactive map was designed for a property company in Jamaica. The customer required a simplistic map design that complimented the company brand but also the ability to give essential information about the properties within the company portfolio whether a commercial property or residential.

A base map theme was created first, incorporating the branding and corporate colour pallet of the customer. Once the design of the map was approved by the customer, we then proceeded to build the map theme tiles along with style and themes guides for our interactive map template.

As each user has different navigational habits, we created several different features for users to easily search across the portfolio of properties. A custom categorization and toggle filter was created to enable users to be navigate and to search easily as well as creating fun locator pins in the shape of buildings allowing users to hover, displaying further information about the property. (With the ability to click and link to a specific page within the website and add photos if necessary).

It was decided to restrict the search area on the map to just Jamaica, but we included an inset zoomed out map so users would be able to view the location of the property in a wider context. The feature of an index map at a smaller scale map be useful in the future when the customer extends their property portfolio in other countries.

Just think of the possibilities you can create using this type of interactive mapping! A map using your own brand colours, with specific icons, highlighting key information for your business only! Or maybe highlighting a multitude of information for the user to explore further into your defined area.

UIG Development Trust

UIG Development Trust – Visitor Map

UIG Development Trust were looking to create a new visitor map to highlight walking routes and places of interest for the Isle of Lewis to be sold in their local community shop. The map also needed to allow local businesses to advertise on the reverse of the map.

Using OS 1:25,000 base mapping, we developed an optimum fold pattern in a leaflet style for the client. We plotted 9 suggested walking routes for the area along with descriptions on the reverse of the map and created pins to highlight the places of interest. We labelled all businesses that were advertising onto the map and then inserted their adverts to the reverse.

Ashwell Parish Council

Ashwell Parish Map

Ashwell Parish located in Hertfordshire were looking to create a new locator map of their beautiful village. The locator map needed to show key places of interest and retail businesses along with an inset to focus on the central part of the village.

Ashwell Parish wanted the map design to show the village layout and roads / paths in a realistic and reasonably contemporary fashion along with monochrome images of places of interest and key businesses to enhance identification of them for users of the map.

This map was printed in a leaflet style and also will be available via their website.

Oxford Cartographers provided an extremely professional and flexible service in creating a tailor made visitor map for Ashwell Village, and for printing it. They responded to our brief with a number of design concepts, and then provided a series of iterations that responded to comments and adjustments that we requested. Throughout they were helpful and responsive. I can thoroughly recommend their map creation service.

Wigwam provide glamping holidays in the great outdoors, with over 80 stunning locations in the UK this is one company that wanted to provide all their guests everything they could possibly want whilst on holiday.

A small but essential part of that was a map of the immediate vicinity of the locations, so they contacted us for a locator map for their guests to help them explore the local area, showing footpaths and nearest pubs – all the points of interest you need whilst on holiday. This is a really simple giveaway that can enhance any user experience of your hospitality.

This customer was looking for a personalised gift for his father and wanted to get a map of the area they lived. A simple but great gift idea

We supplied a 1:25000 scale Ordnance Survey map, as they show the best detail including footpaths, rights of way, open access land and the vegetation on the land, which is exactly the detail that was wanted.

Oak International wanted a promotional map highlighting their route capabilities within Europe. They wanted something light and easy to post so we created a simple map which was printed onto a mouse mat. Easy to post at the size of A5, the mouse mat served 2 purposes, a great corporate gift to give to clients whilst educating their customers on their European reach.

Gloucester County Council

We were approached by the Economic Growth and Strategic Planning department at Gloucestershire County Council, having completed work for them before, we were asked to help them create a map for a publication for their Local Industrial Strategy.

The map needed to demonstrate a number of different features such as areas of natural beauty, places of interest, major landmarks, major business parks and key businesses as well as further education / higher education institutions and connectivity to London/Bristol/Swindon/Birmingham/Oxford and growth hubs.

Due to the information that needed to be on the map we had to consider the best way to display the information whilst keeping the style of map similar to what we had produced for previous projects.

Working on the project with Gloucester CC we have created 2 maps, one that is simplified, that will not only be used for the LIS publication, but can be easily adapted for future strategies.
