When Cumbria Tourism wanted a new leaflet for visitors to Cumbria, they turned to their partner Lava House for assistance. The official tourist board operate Go Lakes, the official website and information portal for all things associated with the Lake District. As part of the value add to clients they also wanted a new “Go Lakes” leaflet to show a local regional map.

Lava House needed our cartography services to help them and partnered with us to produce the leaflet showing main routes and mountain location and scales. WE worked with them to create this bespoke map you can see to the left.

This was quite a simple idea for a map for the School education services who purchase maps that are educational and can compliment the school curriculum.

This map shows very clearly the standard time zones of the World, in a simple but striking way. This is a really simple way to show students what happens as Earth rotates on its axis, it moves about 15 degrees every 60 minutes. After 24 hours, it has completed a full circle rotation of 360 degrees.

The scientists used this information to divide the planet into 24 sections or time zones. Each time zone is 15 degrees of longitude wide…both of which are shown on the World Map.
